Identical Twin sisters pregnancy Photoshoot

What's better than one pregnant mama? Identical twin sisters pregnant at the same time!

This identical twin sisters pregnancy photoshoot was originally planned to be just a normal maternity session with one mama. The week of her session this expectant mother contacted me and asked if she should bring her identical twin sister who was also expecting. And get this, they were due two weeks apart!!!

Well you can guess what my answer was. YES PLEASE!

It’s not often anymore that I get to do something entirely creative that I’ve never done before. As soon as she asked if she could bring her sister my mind started imagining all the amazing poses and outfits we could do for this session.

The world must have been just as fascinated as I was by this amazing session because when I posted about it on TikTok it went viral! Check out my viral TikTok Video of the Identical twin sisters pregnancy photoshoot.

How to pose identical twin sisters pregnant at the same time during a maternity session?

In order to pose one maternity client you have to be conscious of all kinds of things. I am always helping my clients to stand a certain way to emphasize the belly. To hold their hands and heads at certain angles. I even pay attention to the way feet are posed.

I knew I would have to pay special attention to all of these things with two mamas! I went to the internet to do some research and found that this type of session hasn’t really been done before. Or at least I couldn’t find much evidence online.

So instead of maternity posing I looked at modeling done with two female models and developed the posing style I would use from there. This was how I adapted a regular maternity session to an identical twin sisters pregnancy photoshoot.

This inspiration made me lean towards a fashion inspired maternity portrait session for these identical twin sisters pregnant at the same time.

How do you plan for an unexpected photography session featuring identical twin sisters pregnant at the same time?

With twins I guess there will always be two of everything. So I made sure to order or have available two of all the outfits we would use. The twins brought their own jeans and undergarments. They also had the black bodysuits (I quickly added this style to my client closet). But I ordered the rest of the outfits we used.

I made sure to get poses of the pregnant twin moms together and separately. I also used draping fabrics in the colors of each baby gender for one of the poses. When I blog about the newborn session you will see how I incorporated those colors into the baby session too.
