Planning your maternity and newborn photography sessions with the same photographer is a great way to make sure there is continuity between sessions. You also have the opportunity to build rapport and trust before handing over your newborn to the photographer.
For every family that schedules their maternity and newborn photography sessions, we sit down and plan everything out before hand. During our one hour complimentary consultation we discuss all kinds of things so that we can have a blueprint for the session. Some of the things we discuss are:
Every client who schedules maternity and newborn sessions at Mod L Photography is offered hair and makeup services included with their session. It is definitely not mandatory but it does elevate your experience with us.
During your consultation we make sure to go over what style of hair and makeup you would like for your session. You will have it done on sight ahead of each session. And when you have your newborn session you can just roll out of bed and when you get to the studio we will make you look and feel beautiful. It’s so nice to be pampered and cared for after having a baby!
Whenever we are planning maternity and newborn sessions with the same family we are thinking about the final result. Very often a family will choose to print an album that has both the maternity and the newborn session in it. We take this into account and attempt to make the sessions flow together even though they may be scheduled months apart. We look at colors and themes, backdrops and props, wardrobe and makeup, to make sure there aren’t any glaring differences between the two sessions. Whenever possible we incorporate posing and themes from the maternity session into the newborn session as well.
